My
Story

My name is Aaron Malec, I am the founder of Malec Body Therapy. In 2016 I had just moved back to the Cedar Rapids area from college after studying exercise science and I was unsure of my next move. I knew I had a knack for effortlessly making connections with people and I knew I wanted to help people reach their full potential. It was around the same time that I recalled a classmate of mine had gone into massage therapy after graduating - massage was a crucial part of rehabbing a low back/hip injury I sustained from my days as a dancer - so I did some research. After doing some research and talking it over with those closest to me, I knew this was the path for me.

I graduated from Carlson College of Massage Therapy in August of 2016. Additionally, I am also a certified energy healer, a tarot reader, and an all-around holistic enthusiast. I’m passionate about healing the person as a whole - not just the body. A crucial aspect of healing the physical is addressing the mental and emotional. Humans are creatures of habit and habits are formed by behaviors. Most of the time these behaviors manifest as a reaction to our surroundings, but they can also be caused by trauma - both sudden and long-term. These behaviors eventually lead to dysfunction held within our muscles.

Not long after I began practicing I opened my first office - Herd Wellness. That brand helped me grow as a healer in many ways that I remain grateful for to this day. In March of 2020, the world was turned upside down by a pandemic and I was forced to temporarily close my practice. Once again I was left not knowing what my next move would be. I took some time away to reassess my goals and work on healing myself. Deep in my soul, I knew I would eventually step back into my practice and in March 2022 I did exactly that. However, I no longer felt like my old brand represented myself or the practice I wanted to create.

Thus, Malec Body Therapy was established. My practice has gone through many phases, but my mission has always been the same, to guide my clients down a path toward unlocking their full potential.

I use a combination of deep tissue and myofascial techniques used in tandem with reflexology, passive stretches, hot stone, warm bamboo, and hot towels to treat the dysfunction found in my client's muscles. I specialize in low back/hip pain (sciatica), shoulder dysfunction, and migraines/headaches (neck tension). Located at 600 3rd St. SE Studio 102 Cedar Rapids, IA.
